Confidentiality and Trust at
Junior Enterprises Global
Junior Enterprises Global (JE Global) upholds a strong and principled commitment to confidentiality, integrity and trust across all its activities. As a global, volunteer-driven organisation operating in diverse legal, cultural and institutional environments, we recognise that trust is foundational to meaningful collaboration, effective governance and responsible leadership.
This statement sets out the core principles that guide how confidential information is respected, protected and handled within JE Global and across its global network.
Our Approach to Confidentiality
Confidentiality at JE Global is understood as a shared organisational responsibility. All individuals acting on behalf of the organisation are expected to handle sensitive, non-public or privileged information with care, discretion and professionalism, irrespective of format, medium or context.
Confidential information may include, but is not limited to, internal deliberations, governance documents, financial or strategic information, personal data entrusted to the organisation (see our Privacy Policy), whistleblowing disclosures, safeguarding-related information, partner and member communications and any information explicitly designated as confidential.
Information is only shared on a strict need-to-know basis and solely for legitimate purposes.
International Alignment and Ethical Foundations
JE Global’s confidentiality standards are informed by internationally recognised principles of good governance, ethical conduct and responsible information management, including best practices commonly applied within international organisations, civil society networks and institutional partnerships.
Where national legal requirements differ, JE Global applies the higher standard between applicable law and its own internal commitments. Confidentiality obligations remain in force regardless of geographic location, role, seniority or duration of involvement with the organisation.
A Culture of Trust and Responsible Conduct
Trust within JE Global is built on responsible behaviour, transparency in mandate and discretion in execution. All representatives of the organisation are expected to:
act in good faith when accessing or handling information,
respect the confidentiality of discussions, documents and processes not intended for public disclosure,
refrain from unauthorised sharing, publication or personal use of confidential information, and
exercise particular care in digital, virtual and cross-border environments.
These expectations apply equally to internal communication, external representation and informal settings where information may still carry organisational sensitivity.
Confidentiality in Sensitive Contexts
Certain areas of JE Global’s work require heightened confidentiality, including safeguarding and PSEA-related matters, whistleblowing reports, internal investigations, disciplinary procedures and governance deliberations.
In such cases, confidentiality is essential to protect individuals, preserve due process, prevent retaliation and uphold the integrity of organisational mechanisms. Breaches of confidentiality in these contexts are treated with particular seriousness.
Relationship with Data Protection and Privacy
This statement complements, but does not replace, JE Global’s Privacy Notice and related data protection frameworks. Personal data is handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws and the organisation’s published privacy commitments (see Privacy Policy).
Confidentiality obligations extend beyond personal data and apply equally to organisational, strategic and partner-related information that may not fall under data protection legislation but nevertheless requires protection under business & contractual secrecy or other.
Partnerships and Network Alignment
JE Global expects any and all network members, partner organisations, service providers and collaborators to uphold confidentiality standards that are equivalent to or stronger than those set out in this statement.
Where information is shared within the framework of partnerships, joint projects or network activities, confidentiality expectations are made explicit and form part of the trust underpinning collaboration across the Movement.
Accountability and Breach of Confidentiality
Failure to respect confidentiality obligations may result in corrective or disciplinary measures in line with JE Global’s Code of Conduct and internal governance frameworks. Serious or intentional breaches may lead to removal from role, termination of cooperation or further action as appropriate.
Confidential concerns or suspected breaches may be raised through established internal channels, including the Whistleblowing Centre.
Continuous Review
Trust and confidentiality are not static commitments. JE Global periodically reviews its policies and practices to ensure they remain fit for purpose, aligned with evolving international standards and responsive to the realities of operating as a global youth-led organisation.
This statement should be read in conjunction with JE Global’s Code of Conduct, Privacy Notice, Whistleblowing Centre and related Global Policies.
